Hi! My name is Sarah and I've been in recovery since 6-22-2016. I'm from Spring Branch, Texas, a tiny Hill Country town. I started drinking and using drugs at 10 years old. Over the next 20 years, I lost everything to the disease of addiction. I had no money, friends, or family left. I was not hireable. I had zero belief in myself and really did not know who I was or what I was still living for. I had a criminal record a mile long.
In 2016, I checked into treatment for the last time and thankfully, something clicked!
I began to have a little hope. Over the last 8 years, I have stayed dedicated to my AA program and helping others. I love being in peer support and transferring hope to others that were as hopeless as me. I'm a member of the LGBTQ+ community and I have the most fulfilling life now! I looooove animals and am an advocate for them as well as my local homeless population. I also have a veggie garden and tons of plants that I take care of. Today, I have these hobbies and things I love. I never had that in addiction. I have a relationship with myself and a higher power thanks to AA and strangers that transferred hope to me. I look forward to helping the next individual and in return, I get helped by them!
