Women and Addiction Recovery

As we celebrate Women's History Month we shine a light on women of strength and courage, women who challenge societal roles and break down barriers. Women who have forged a path in the darkness and held the light for us to follow.

This month let's shine a light on women and addiction. While addiction knows no boundaries, women tend to experience unique challenges during the recovery process.

Women may feel shame or guilt for their addiction, particularly if they are mothers or caregivers. It's essential for women in recovery to have a supportive community where they can feel safe and supported to express their vulnerabilities. There's nothing more fulfilling to me than to be a part of a woman's journey in recovery. I get to walk with her as she discovers her strength and courage. I get to hold the light as she makes her way through the darkness then goes on to hold the light for those that follow.

Breaking the stigma surrounding addiction can make it easier for women to reach out for help without experiencing shame or judgment. By changing the conversation around addiction, women can overcome addiction and thrive in recovery.
