Much more than a sobriety monitoring service.
Accountable was created based on both Matt and AJ, LMSW’s experience recovering from addiction. We both felt that there were two main disconnects in the existing model of care:
The transition from acute treatment to sustained sobriety felt abrupt. Where there was continued, long term, step down support available cost was an obstacle for many.
As someone transitioned from one level of care to another, coordination between providers and family members proved difficult.
This led us to create Accountable, an affordable (starting at $99 a month), technology enabled, addiction recovery accountability service that provides the following services:
We reinforce the skills built during addiction treatment through our phased skill building program, in coordination with the individuals addiction recovery treatment providers, and guided by our goal library.
We provide addiction recovery peer support based on the selected goals via text message and video chat. As someone achieves goals consistently, we add new goals in coordination with the individual's treatment team and help the member maintain their old goals.
We randomly drug test over video chat using saliva based tests at a frequency determined by the recovering individual, their family, and their clinical providers. Generally, we recommend 3x a week for the first 90 days of sobriety, weekly for the first year, and monthly thereafter.
We provide transparency into an individual's recovery through our portal. Family, and providers can see the recovering individual’s goals, correspondence with us including survey and text message data, and toxicology test results. This reduces splitting, which in turn creates an environment where trust can be rebuilt.
We provide a Recovery Community through our Facebook group and Accountable Recovery Meetings for all present and past Accountable Members.
The result of all this is a powerful adjunctive continuing care addiction recovery service that:
Let’s the recovering individual take ownership of their recovery, their recovery goals, and build a recovery lifestyle.
Provides a healthy, bounderied environment for the recovering individual to share progress with loved ones without feeling policed.
Creates an environment that fosters collaboration between therapists, counselors, psychiatrists, alumni coordinators, recovery coaches, family and the recovering individual.
Provides powerful, continued support with very little ongoing time commitment for the recovering individual.
To us, this is literally everything we felt we were missing when we were stepping down from treatment. It is also much better than the awkwardness I faced with my girlfriend (now wife) wanting to randomly drug test me with urine tests!
However, what is even more fulfilling, is seeing the results of Accountable as a powerful adjunct to clinical care:
Members are continuing their recovery journey and following their continuing care plan with nearly 100% compliance.
In the event members do relapse, their family and treatment team are coordinated with, which has resulted in them resuming sobriety immediately, or re-entering a higher level of treatment within 3 days on average.
Most importantly, the feedback we’ve received from recovering individuals, family, and treatment providers have been overwhelmingly positive.
AJ and I are so excited about what Accountable has become already, and the impact we will have in helping individuals and family systems recover in the future. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be of service, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time!
